Court Closure – Roof Renewal and Loft Works

The court will be closed from Monday 17th May for approximately four weeks. The work is due to be completed by Friday 11th June.

All work will take place Monday to Friday only. The court will be cleared and cleaned on Friday of each week so that it is usable at the weekends.

A brief summary of the works proposed by Historic Royal Palaces to the loft space is as follows:

  • Remove existing glass fibre insulation
  • Clean loft area (above boarding) of dust, debris etc.
  • Undertake inspection of ceiling and roof timbers from inside loft
  • Undertake repairs to timbers as deemed necessary – some may have to be done when roof tiles removed
  • To lay two layers of Thermafleece 100mm thick (sheeps wool) thermal insulation between and over ceiling rafters
  • To fit breathable membrane over the whole of the loft area (future protection against items falling through ceiling from roofworks and also to keep insulation from getting dirty
