Suzie Falkner, of the IRTPA, will be providing a live text commentary of the upcoming World Championship Challenge between the reigning champion Rob Fahey, and the challenger Steve Virgona. The IRTPA is also hoping to have live webcam coverage available.

The match will be best of thirteen sets, with the first four sets on Tuesday 4^th May, the next four sets on Thursday 6^th, and any remaining sets on Saturday 8^th.

The eliminators for the right to challenge Rob Fahey in May 2010 start in February. The four players are Camden Riviere, Steve Virgona, Ruaraidh Gunn and Bryn Sayers. The schedule for the first round of eliminators is as follows:

Final Eliminator

This will be played under the challenge format of the best of thirteen sets, and will be hosted by The Tuxedo Club on Thursday 18^th, Saturday 20^th and Sunday 21^st March.

The Challenge Match

This will be played on Tuesday 4^th, Thursday 6^th and Saturday 8^th May at the Royal Melbourne Tennis Club.

RTC assistant professional Ben Matthews, in his first appearance in a major final, lost 6/4, 6/3, 6/4 to world champion Rob Fahey at the IRTPA Championships, played at The Manchester Tennis & Racquet Club.

RTC’s head professional Nick Wood, together with Steve Virgona (seeded three), beat Rob Fahey and Ruaraidh Gunn (seeded one) in the final of the British Open Doubles, 6/5, 6/1, 6/1.

RTC’s involvement in the European Open ended at the semi-final stage with the number two seed and reigning champion Camden Riviere beating the unseeded Ben Matthews 6/1, 6/3, 6/5.

The final, between Riviere and Rob Fahey, ended prematurely when Fahey retired when leading 6/3, 6/3, 4/6, 1/2.
